Tobacco Museum

A museum devoted to the history of tobacco in Andorra, housed on Carrer Doctor Palau in Sant Julià de Lòria, within the former Reig factory.

The Tobacco Museum, housed in the former Reig factory on Carrer Doctor Palau in Sant Julià de Lòria, traces the history of tobacco growing and industry in Andorra, an activity that left a lasting mark on the country's economy in the 20th century. Thanks to a particular fiscal status, the Principality developed a thriving tobacco industry, producing and selling cigarettes and tobacco on terms more advantageous than in neighbouring countries. The museum presents the various stages of this activity, from growing the plant to the industrial manufacture of finished products, including leaf-drying and processing techniques. Located within the very buildings of a former factory, it lets visitors discover a little-known chapter of Andorra's industrial heritage, through period machinery, documents and testimonies linked to this now-vanished industry.
