An ethnographic house-museum in Encamp: step into rural Andorran life of the late 19th and early 20th centuries through the preserved home of a day-labourer family.
Located in the old quarter of La Mosquera, in the heart of Encamp, Casa Cristo is a three-storey village house built in the 19th century. Inhabited until 1947 by a family of Andorran day labourers, it was purchased by the Encamp municipality in 1995 for restoration into an ethnographic museum. Its interior, kept almost intact, reveals the modest, rural way of life in old Andorra: living quarters, original furniture, everyday objects and farm outbuildings tell the story of a humble family's daily life at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. Unlike the grand manor houses found elsewhere in the country, Casa Cristo offers a rare glimpse into ordinary Andorran life before the Principality's tourism boom. Individual and group visits are available, with guided tours by prior reservation, limited to ten people.
